During Christmas, 2008, Kelly Mueller and I talked a bit about putting the family recipes together in one place. No matter what else was going on in the family, the Stegmanns ate well. I remember family parties where the tables of food stretched the length of the room. At the holidays, Kelly always says that she looks forward to my Mom's cornbread dressing. Personally, I look forward to Bev's cauliflower salad. I could eat that salad by the bowlfull.
It's these little things, memories, tastes, smells, and pictures that we take with us as our lives progress. Through personal storms, we hold tightly to those things that bring comfort and peace. Many in my generation of the family are starting to gather old pictures and trinkets, thinking back fondly to happy childhood memories.
In the coming year, we will be putting together a book of favorite family recipes, pictures and stories, to keep many of these in one place for passing on to future generations. This blog will serve to share content and information about the project as it progresses.
